The fourth Regional Meeting for Middle East and North Africa was held in Sana’a, Yemen from 2-5 December 2006. Participants supported the idea of the creation of a "Friends of the Global Fund in the Middle East." This meeting included a High Level Advocacy Day which brought together Ministers of Health from both recipient and potential donor countries, and representatives of Arab Development Funds and Banks. The event raised awareness about the three diseases and generated interest in mobilizing resources.

Conference on Evidence-based Information Systems for Health
June 18-19, 2006
To disseminate survey results, tools and applications as well as other advances in data collection and analysis, the Ministry of Public Health and Population, the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the World Bank are sponsoring a two-day conference. The conference includes the DGs for Health, statisticians and planners from the 21 governorates, MoPHP, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Telecommunications and Information, Ministry of Planning, the Social Fund, Central Statistics Organization, National Authority for Land Parcels, Surveys and Planning (formerly the Survey Authority), and the donor community. Although the conference focuses on results of pilots and studies conducted to improve the functioning of the health system, other organizations are invited to present their work on information systems and to discuss how to apply the tools developed for health to other sectors... more

Building Partnership between Health and Media: Workshop for the Media
August, 2004
The Ministry of Public Health and Population in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) organized a workshop for representative of media at the end of August 2004.
Dr. Jamal Nasher, the head of Health Policy and Technical Support Unit said that the workshop aimed at building a positive base of partnership with the media in recognition of the effective role of media in addressing and advocating issues of national interest. About 30 journalists from the different media organizations in the country attended.
